GOTG 3: Adam Warlock Actor Responds to Gamora Relationship Rumors

With rumors abound that Adam Warlock and Gamora may be romantically involved in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, actor Adam Poulter reacts.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Will Poulter reacts to rumors that his character Adam Warlock is romantically involved with Zoe Saldana’s Gamora in the upcoming Guardians sequel. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is directed by James Gunn (who helmed Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) and will mark the end of the main arc for Star-Lord’s team. Poulter will be one of several new cast members introduced to the Guardians universe, along with Nico Santos, Chukwudi Iwuji and Maria Bakalova.

Adam Warlock, a beloved comic book character, is a long overdue addition to the MCU. It has also been long rumored that Adam may have a relationship with Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In the previous Guardians films, Gamora’s love interest was Star-Lord himself, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). However, due to the events of the split timeline of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, the Gamora Peter loved died, and they are now looking for a replacement Gamora. So, it’s conceivable that fans think that Gamora may not be in love with Peter anymore but may actually be interested in Adam. A relationship between Gamora and Adam Warlock would also not conflict with the source material, as Adam and Gamora were romantically linked in some of the original Marvel comics featuring Adam Warlock (including his solo comics in the 1970s). .

Now Poulter himself is responding to the rumors of Adam’s involvement with Gamora. In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Poulter was asked to respond to an Adam Warlock theory that sounded like it best expressed his feelings about it. The theory in question is that Adam Warlock is in a relationship with Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Poulter gave a distinctly confused tone in response, and went on to say that he didn’t realize it was a theory until the interview. Watch Poulter’s quote below:

“I don’t know that [theory]. This is news to me. That’s the wait for Volume 3, right?

Some may question the veracity of Poulter’s answer, as MCU actors are known to vehemently deny fan theories that have been proven true in the past. Andrew Garfield denied rumors that he would reprise his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but of course he showed up. Poulter, however, seemed genuinely confused by the theory in the interview, so this denial may be more serious than the responses of past Marvel actors.

However, Poulter is of course an accomplished actor — an Emmy nominee at that — so the actor may have been bluffing in this interview. While Poulter can’t read everything circulating online about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Adam’s relationship with Gamora in the comics is well known, and a part of the character’s comic past that one would think Poulter knows more about than he does in this interview. Poulter’s confused response to the theory is still noteworthy, but should be taken with a grain of salt until trailers and more press are released for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
