DC Krypto Super-Dog: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace (Nintendo Switch) – The Trial

Gamer friends!!! You who dreamed and waited impatiently for a Superman or Batman game on the beautiful Switch, and why even the port of the Arkham trilogy, will be happy, because this expectation and this dream has finally come true. Well, that’s what we were hoping for in our wildest dreams. Because yes, gamer friends, open your eyes and prepare to cry, because the only thing Warner and DC have to offer is the adventures of Krypto the superdog in a game that looks more like Superman 64 than of anything. . At least, our beloved little blondes will be happy to find their favorite character in a game featuring the most popular canine superheroes currently in cinema. Let’s not waste any more time, let’s put on our super tights, our cape and walk to discover the Metropolis and on the way let’s not forget our croquettes.

A story that lacks fangs

Everyone knows Superman, but do you know Krypto the superdog. Yes and no and then to tell the truth we do not care at all, because even if you are an avid reader of comics or fans of cartoons that have recently been released on the big screens, this is a safe which bet you don’t. find your account in the imitation video game adaptation of the animated film. But good for the more adventurous, here is almost the pitch of the game. Lex Luthor is the terrifying multi-billionaire villain who totes around in armor worthy of Buzz Lightyear. His new very cunning plan will consist of capturing all stray or abandoned animals to lock them in a zoo, to build this infernal plan he will call an army of robots which will set the city of Metropolis in fire and blood.

Faced with this terrible taunt, the SPA went to the front and called the greatest of superheroes, the Paw Patrol!! Uh, not a bad game/universe, but we wouldn’t say no to a shared universe, the Animal Cinematic Universe. Alright, come on, let’s get serious for a second and get back to our weird pantyhose-wearing pooches. Who says Lex Luthor, says Metropolis, and so, so, Superman. But where is this rude!!! Well to tell the truth, we don’t really know and once again we don’t care, because anyway, this game doesn’t mean anything. The only important element is that we will embody here his honest furry friend, Krypto along with his friend Ace, a dog version of Batman. That’s the end of the scenario. Ah and of course, there is no cutscene to accompany all this, not only the texts that, in case, for people who cannot read, are fully dubbed in French. In addition, one still wonders where the dubbers are fishing, because the latter apparently do not know how to read a fucking text themselves. Not only do we have terrible dubbing that just says an alternate version of the text, but on top of it it just feels like we have one and only one person who just changes their tone of voice and mostly just reads to us pure and simple piece of paper placed before his eyes. In short, the scenario of this game is served to us like a piece of shit on a plate, it is presentable, but absolutely disgusting.

Crypto 64

Having a little scenario to chew on is not enough for us. We are not professional till the end and still give the game a chance, after all if the scenario of a game is the whole game, then good games can be counted on one hand. Let’s go back to our sheep, or if necessary to our doggies. Our furry friends, endowed with superpowers, must save their poor animal friends from a horrible zoo. When the game launches, we have a welcome screen with a map of Metropolis. This map will be divided into three areas, for each area of this map we have 5 game levels, a total of 15 levels. This famous level takes place in the city and our dog hero flies through the streets like a superman, shooting his laser beam at anything that moves and looks naughty. At this point, the game offers us what we want from the action. We control the choice of Krypto or his friend Ace, except for the aesthetic side of things, and even a dog remains a dog, there is not much change in relation to this choice. We still control a super dog in a 3D environment, which will use its laser beam to destroy the enemies in front of it and Lex’s inflatable balloons will definitely make us think of a big Buzz Lightyear.

The game is clear, simple and easy to learn, we advance, we shoot, we avoid obstacles and we use our special attacks. Késako his special attacks? When we choose between our 2 characters, we also have a choice between 3 powers. His powers are now available to give us a choice of a small attack, speed or bonus protection. For the second time, they will also be there to show the fellow travelers of our heroes, a Green Lantern, Flash and a Wonder Woman, all in the animal version of course. Well, let’s skip the details, because frankly no folichon can get into your teeth. His famous powers will of course be unlocked and for that nothing can be simpler, it is enough to complete a place to unlock the next power. To sum up, the game is just a simple big corridor that consists of 15 levels each lasting a little less than 10 min, yes the game only lasts 2 hours, it’s short, very short for a the whole game is also sold for 40 €. Yes, dare we say it, we are literally kidding ourselves, of course, the game was made for children back then, but releasing a game with such a short life these days is a real sacrilege. This very short lifespan can still be increased, a minimum for players who are not very comfortable with this type of game or for whom the game will present a level of difficulty that is quite high. Good for us, we finished the game in 2 hours, and that’s while only losing 3 times in the entire game.

SPA hello

The game tries to be good by promising us a lot of nice things, including improving the powers and health of our heroes through skill points. Again, we won’t hide it, this is a great scam, each skill point is earned at the end of each level, which means that in just 2 hours we have completed the skill trees of our characters.

Apart from this beautiful trick, we also have a game mode where we have to take care of the stray animals that we can save on our way. In fact, this game mode comes with a kind of card deck where we have a part for animals and another for people who want to adopt these beautiful little animals. To do this, we need to feed or play with the small animals that have been abandoned. For that it is enough to choose between 3 options, one thing. If at the beginning, we really take the time to be interested in it, we immediately know that no matter what we choose, in the end, it never changes, a bar of happiness is realized and at the moment of meeting, the animal suitable for adoption.

Well, how about this popular adoption. Well again, it will be like filling the happiness gauge of our animal, it is enough to find the right behavior from a small selection that can take care of animals. But again, although at the beginning we took time and care to read the descriptions of each character, we soon realized that regardless of the choice, the adoption was accepted and adopted as the adopter was happy. But in the end, what does all this tell us? Well, that’s not the question we ask ourselves, because apart from artificially increasing the length of life, it doesn’t bring any bonus or even nothing at all. In fact, we fill a gauge with each successful adoption, but when it is filled to the maximum, it does not work and we can continue the same pattern to adopt animals.

In short, it’s unnecessarily long, it’s boring and most of all it’s pointless. The only positive point of this game mode, at least it is beautiful, the cards have a very nice rendering and it inevitably differs from the rest of the game.

Hell, but my croquettes are ugly!!

Let’s move on to the last step, the graphics and the soundtrack. For the graphics part, only the adoption game mode comes out with honors, because for others, the game is bad. Be careful, the game is not buggy or blurry or runny, it’s not just ugly, because the game has no real art direction. The whole game is simply content to make us tirelessly cross 15 levels by making us believe that the scenery changes the least, but we are not deceived. We actually crossed 15 large corridors that were completely identical and very lacking in charm.

What about the enemies that barely change themselves in the whole level 15. In the end only the 3 bosses that end the 3 zones are a bit different from the others and also. For the audio part, frankly it’s not better, in fact it’s worse. If we have already mentioned the fact that the texts were dubbed by someone who apparently does not know how to read or transcribe emotions and tones, we can also add to the violations the fact that our hero 3 or 4 We only know one line and we will repeat it. them every 2 min. Eventually, we just wanted to cut the sound, especially because the music, well we think a lot, we’re not really sure because this last one seems to repeat itself.
