He praised Vietnam for its achievements in the work of Doi Moi (Revival) and considered them a great source of inspiration and valuable lessons for Laos in national construction and defense.

The leader also took the opportunity to thank the Party of Vietnam, State and people for their strong, timely and effective support to Laos over the years.

For his part, Vo Van Thuong stressed the importance of building diplomatic relations 60 years ago as well as signing the agreement 45 years ago, and the similarity of the two countries historically, geographically and culturally.

Congratulating Laos for its comprehensive achievements in 35 years of reform and the implementation of the Resolution adopted by the 11th National Party Congress, the Vietnamese official noted his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), led by Thongloun Sisoulith, the governing body and the governing body of the legislature, Laos will continue to improve its position in the region and around the world.

Vo Van Thuong outlined the directions of cooperation between the two parties and countries in the fields of politics, security, foreign activity, economy, culture, education and science and technology.

Later the same day, Vo Van Thuong, on behalf of the Party and State of Vietnam, presented the Order of the Gold Star to the Lao Prime Minister and the President of NA, the Order of Ho Chi Minh to four members of Politburo of Laos and the Order of Independence First Class to five secretaries. to the Lao Party Central Committee, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to bilateral relations.

Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh thanked the Vietnamese Party and State for the prestigious award and promised to do everything with Vietnam to preserve and strengthen the special unity and integral cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Also on July 18, Vo Van Thuong and his colleagues visited former Lao Party General Secretary and State President Bounnhang Volachith and attended the opening of Vietnam Cultural Week in Laos. – VNA
