A new security error has been detected in the Chrome browser. Google provided little information later, but the company has already released a patch that should be installed as soon as possible.

If Chrome offers you an update, it’s best that you install it right away. Google recently released a new version of its Windows web browser that corrects a critical security flaw, which has also been exploited by hackers. This is the fourth time an error of this type has been discovered in 2022 alone.

To make sure your version of Chrome is the latest, go to your browser’s menu (the three dots in the upper right), select the Help submenu, then select About Chrome. Your software should download and install browser version 103.0.5060.114 without your help, except to restart the browser. According to Google, the update should be automatically installed on all qualified machines within a few days.

The operation of the defect, which inherits the poetic code name CVE-2022-2294, has not yet been detailed by Google. It is only known to be a buffer overflow bug that can cause the system to crash or allow remote command execution. Enough to cause a hell of a mess… The web giant also admitted that this error was used by unscrupulous hackers.

Little information about the error

“Access to bug details and links may be restricted until most users are fixed […] We will also continue with the bans if the bug is in a third -party library that is similarly trusted by other projects, but has not yet been fixed.“explained Google.

The same errors were detected in Google Chrome on February 14, March 25 and April 14. All errors zero days, that is, it has not been the subject of any publication before it has been discovered to the public. The February bug was mainly used by hackers in North Korea to distribute malware. This does not mean that Google Chrome is inherently weaker than any software, as no computer system is tamper-proof, but due to the popularity of the browser, many cybercriminals are trying to find its flaws.

The best thing to do is to install the updates that are offered.
