Someone crawled into a small cave to rescue 9 puppies

Eldad Hagar, founder of Hope For Paws, a Los Angeles organization dedicated to rescuing stray dogs, spends most of its time finding and rescuing stray dogs. Many of these dogs are not always easy to rescue, but he will always find a way to make it happen, even when rescue seems nearly impossible. This time he entered a small cave to rescue 9 puppies hiding there.

The video of this rescue was made in memory of her dear friend and rescuer Lisa M Ashe, who loves animals and always tries to find the best homes for them. Hope For Paws was called after Lisa’s funeral about a litter of puppies in need of help.

The best way to remember their loved one is to take action. This particular rescue has been one of the most difficult.

Two women working nearby have been feeding these hard-to-rescue dogs for two years now, and Eldad continues to be updated on the condition of the dogs as he comes up with new testing plans and save them.

One of the dogs gave birth to several puppies, which hid in a small cave.

The puppies were born to a wild mother who has consistently escaped rescue teams for the past five years. She immediately hid her puppies in a cave. These adult dogs have endured on their own for so long that they are so afraid of humans, that it is almost impossible for anyone to approach them.

But Eldad didn’t want to stop, so he literally dug his way into the small cave to release the puppies.

Eldad told The Dodo:

“If you take a small step toward them, they will run across the tracks and disappear. »

Because the puppies roam in and out of the cave, it is difficult to determine exactly how many they are. The women sat with them for six hours, watching them come in and out, and finally determined to have eight dogs.

The hope that this rescue will be more successful is that they will end up rescuing their mother and others who have gone astray. Eldad and his group took the lead to the test cave to rescue 6 -week -old puppies. When they arrived at the cave, rescue teams tried to use pieces of cheese to lure the puppies out of hiding.

When some of them finally came out, Eldad noticed their brindle color, which was unusual because three of the strays were light brown. So he immediately realized that the father of the puppies was a homeless dog named Tank whom he rescued from the same neighborhood a few months ago.

Puppies are eager to feed, but they are also very cautious, as they have little human interaction in their short lives. When Eldad took the first one, the others panicked and ran back in their cave.

The entrance to the cave was very small, but Eldad would not stop without a fight. As much as he could, he squeezed himself into the dark, cramped little place, hoping the puppies weren’t too far away for him to catch. Slowly and carefully, she picked up each of the puppies.

The puppies were too scared to feel the man’s hands the first time they cried and cried, until they felt the hug and realized they were safe.

Eldad relates:

“They didn’t understand what we were doing there, because they thought we were predators trying to hurt them.”

With the help of a shovel, Eldad was able to retrieve all the puppies.

“Every time the train passes, you can feel the whole floor shaking. That was a very scary experience. »

It took Eldad and his companions seven and a half hours to get the puppies out of the cave, but individually the group was able to get each puppy out of the small cave.

The eight puppies were now safe and in the arms of their rescuers, but even though the women assured Eldad that there were only eight, he returned to the cave and listened intently, if at all.

To his surprise, he heard low moans from inside the cave. After some more searching, he finally found the ninth calf, the smallest of the litter, who had probably never gotten out of the cave because he was so scared that the women didn’t know he existed.

The puppies were taken to various foster homes, where they are now cared for.

Eldad clarifies:

“Puppies are so good, it doesn’t make sense. They’re so happy, they’re the happiest dogs in the world. It’s also the most secretive group of puppies, as their mother tried to tell them,” Shut up, there’s coyotes around, “when they lived in the cave. They were very secretive.»

Now that the puppies and their father have been rescued, Eldad and his team will focus their efforts on trying to save the mother and other dogs once and for all. They have a new long-term plan that they hope will succeed, and hope that within the next two months the whole family will be safe and find an eternal home.
