Gabelle, on the other hand, in Fréjus, QPV and its inhabitants with a median annual income of 10,700 euros. Two worlds that, to date, have not intersected.

To break this invisible wall, National Education, Saint-Raphaël Var handball and the that Estérel Côte d’Azur is launching, from autumn 2021 to spring 2022, a sports partnership for the attention of 112 CM2 students in the Gabelle district. Five classes thus benefited from eight handball initiation sessions, under the guidance of instructors from this professional club of national and European renown.

“The goal is to get them to discover a collective game and to meet them with top athletes,” explained Jean-Luc Raynal, National Education inspector (read below). These kids live mostly difficult conditions, practicing small cultural or sporting activities, sometimes complicated school paths… The internship gives them an opening.Training sessions take place at the Palais des Sports, a sports arena that is usually reserved for French championship or European Cup matches.
