the necessity
A couple from Toulouse who vacationed in Corsica in early June saw a few days of relaxation turn tragic when they were attacked by Corsican pigs.
Just remembering the scene can make Nadine*tremble. On June 7, with her husband, they left the Toulouse suburbs to go to Corsica for two weeks under the sign of visits and relaxation. But their holidays literally turned into a dream, as reported by our colleagues from Corse Matin.
When we contacted, the couple wanted to witness the tragedy. On June 9, at the end of the day, outside and around their converted van on the west coast of the Isle of Beauty, heading to the Gulf of Porto, the couple decided to stop at the Col de Sevi “to take some photos “. As Nadine* and Didier* came out accompanied by their two dogs tied on a leash, a yorkshire terrier and a chihuahua, to walk a few hundred meters from the area offering and breathtaking views of the streams “twenty Corsican pigs, from everywhere, surround us”, still says the shock of Toulousaine for about sixty years. “After all that happens so quickly, I was hit several times by these pigs, also bitten everywhere”, confessed, trauma, this resident of north Toulouse.
But the force of the wild beasts kept her from getting up, her husband trying to help her, in vain. “After being hit again, I jumped two meters while my partner tried to hold the dogs at arm’s length to save them,” he said, completely traumatized. The scene becomes terrifying when the pigs attack the chihuahua. “I don’t know why but I have a reflex to translate one of the dogs escaped the maquis but I don’t have time for another”, says, deeply touched, Didier.

“It was a mess”
The couple’s Chihuahua named Chica, 8 and a half years old, was eaten alive by pigs in front of its owners. “Frankly, it was Walking Dead, they were chasing the dog, mess,” Nadine said again, trying to hide her sadness. Under shock and emotional shock, the two sexagenarians returned to their truck parked below. “I lost my glasses, no more shoes, no more cell phones, we were in serious condition, injured everywhere”, described the owner of the dogs. Then they go to the nearest on-call doctor where they will receive a booster shot against tetanus and antibiotics. Then, they would spend the night at a campsite “to wash up” and shorten their vacation by returning to the continent the next day.

Warning signs
Back in the suburbs of Toulouse, Nadine is disturbed by the sound of animals devouring her dog and can’t stop repeating the scene, causing tears and anxiety. He also suffered severely from a major injury to the back of his knee that required constant visits to a nurse. “If I agree to say all this, it’s to alert people. In the place of my dog, imagine if it was a child. I’ve been there about ten times, that we meet pigs outside, nothing in my life, I think such a thing could happen to me ”, he insisted.
The couple still filed a complaint Tuesday with the gendarmerie and took steps to record their injuries with a medical examiner. “What I found sad was that we were almost told it was our fault and that we couldn’t do anything”, laments Didier, who is convinced that these pigs belong to someone.
For his wife, the installation of signs indicating the presence of freedom pigs and the habit of adopting their presence should be installed to avoid this kind of drama. He insisted that during the research, he knew this was not the first time people had been the target of this type of attack. In early January, an 18-year-old young man was injured by several pigs as he was walking in northeastern Corsica. He had to be hospitalized for his injuries.
