Game News F1 22: The PS5 version has an advantage
The release of F1 22 is approaching communication around the Electronic Arts title. After announcing the arrival of VR in the racing game, we now know that the PlayStation 5 version of the game has an advantage over other game consoles.
DualSense in the service of sensations
If we learned just a few hours ago that the PC version of the F1 22 could be compatible with the Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR headsets to completely put yourself in a pilot’s shoes, from now on EA indicates that the PlayStation 5 version is also entitled to a little more features. The game made by Codemasters, like Gran Turismo 7, seeks to take into account different features of the DualSense, the PlayStation 5 controller, to maximize the sensations.
As you can imagine, the mechanical sports game expected on July 1 will use the adaptive triggers on the controller of Sony’s latest machine. The purpose here is to strengthen the resistance of the triggers during braking or loss of control in a car to strengthen the immersion.
For the PS5, adaptive triggers are used by directly reporting the trigger resistance to the slip ratio of the wheels. This means that when your car ‘drives’ under braking, the brake trigger resistance level will also increase, allowing for a more immersive car connection. Similarly, if you drive, the throttle trigger resistance will increase. A subtle difference between the default throttle resistance and brake triggers was also implemented to mimic the pressure difference required to activate the brake pedal versus that required to activate the gas pedal in a real Formula 1 car. . Haptic feedback and loudspeaker are also in the program
Not only that, Codemasters also clarified that haptic feedback as well as the DualSense speaker will also work well. The first technology will allow players to feel the collisions thanks to the vibrations of the controller, but also the different textures of the ground. So we thought we would be easily alerted to local tremors when leaving the road for example.
By using the haptic feedback of the PS5 DualSense controller, the sensations of collisions and surfaces are greatly improved. This haptic feedback helps communicate the fragments of individual debris on the surface and thus creates a much more in -depth experience when it comes to representing the car in a particular area of the track. In particular, this sensation can be localized to the left or to the right. A perfect example of this is when the left wheels of the player’s car are aggressively forced to the side of the road, the feedback is felt only on the left side of the controller, adding realism. Finally, the speaker controller is used when a race engineer decides to speak. The latter especially provides circuit signs and helps you reach your destination thanks to their good advice.
As a reminder, F1 22 is expected on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One on July 1, 2022.
