McDonald’s will soon come to the metaverse
Since Mark Zuckerberg made the metaverse the group’s new Facebook priority, changing the name to Meta for the occasion, all the major brands have been looking to invest in this new virtual El Dorado.
In 2022 alone, we could mention Disney, Walmart, Warner Music, Carrefour, Samsung or Gucci. And this trend is unlikely to weaken: on February 4, McDonald’s registered with several trademarks to open a restaurant in the metaverse.
This discovery is due to Josh Gerben, a specialized attorney whose firm monitors new trademark filings on a daily basis. Yesterday, he shared a tweet reporting on ten requests filed by the popular fast-food chain.
McDonald’s is heading into the metaverse.
The company has filed 10 (TEN!) Trademark applications indicating that it plans to offer “a virtual restaurant with actual and virtual items” and “operates a virtual restaurant with home delivery. “#Mcdonalds #Metaverse pic.twitter.com/J9pK7EK9nl

Order metaverse, have it delivered to your home
If we go into the details of McDonald’s demands, we can read that the group seeks to take advantage ” a virtual restaurant that offers the same real things ”as well ” home delivery ». We can immediately assume that in the future, we can order McDo in the metaverse before sending his burgers and fries to the real world.
McDonald’s plans for the metaverse don’t stop there. The mark clearly shows its purpose is to offer virtual food and drink, particularly aimed at issuing non-fungible tokens (NFTs). More surprisingly, he also seemed interested in the events, and especially in the organization ” conreal and virtual online certifications ».

McDonald’s wasn’t on its first try
For ecosystem observers, this mcdonalds metaverse entry is not surprising. Last year, McDonald’s France distributed free non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as part of a contest.
And over the past few months, the brand has been in constant contact with cryptocurrency enthusiasts. We can quote in particular his tweet was somewhat sarcastic sent at the end of January, when the market hit its lowest point since the summer of 2021.

Now the fast food giant is ready to raise an issue by investing in the metaverse. Between Sandbox (SAND) and Decentraland (MANA), We are now wondering what virtual world the brand wants to invest in as a priority.
