Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium landed in the metaverse

Manchester City are entering the metaverse

It is a project born within the framework of a 3 years partnership with Sony. The current England champion will once again make it to the Etihad Stadium in the metaverse. Even if not stated explicitly, it will appear to be Manchester City does not rely on any existing virtual universebut instead develops its own digital world to make this innovation possible.

The road is still a long way off, but Sony teams are already starting to make one 3D mapping in the stadium to produce a digital version of it. Virtual reality will especially make it possible to view matches, not from one angle, but from the point of view of choosing one.

With such technology, there are no more health problems, seating capacity or even trips to Manchester. Nuria Tarre, marketing and engagement manager, praised the pioneering spirit of the club:

We really believe in connecting fans around the world, with a new digital way […] I think the traditional image of a man sitting on a couch, staring at a screen, is something we can’t imagine being representative of reality in 10 years, maybe even five years from now. Things are faster than you think. »

The Etihad Stadium project should pave the way for other digital services for the club. This includes, among other things, the sale of goods in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Initially invested in moderation, it was only two years ago that I gambled betting on everything in the movement that had formed before. I dedicate 2021 to training myself better to gain more knowledge and seriousness. As I’ve always wanted to say: I still have a billion things to learn. And what I know, I want to share with you.
