Game news Summer Game Fest: A less bizarre conference than expected? This is clarified by Geoff Keighley
Without E3, which makes an appointment next year, it’s Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest occupying the space. Sony’s State of Play was well marked with the event’s logo, but the heart later remained at the conference on Thursday, June 9th.
The host was Geoff Keighleymaking the event, the Summer Game Fest should last between one and a half and two hoursenough to announce multiple games, to provide more details on titles already announced, and to be brought to the stage a number of visitors.
Summer Game Fest: fewer announcements than expected?
Games are shown from triple A to indie games, which will go through the studios to present their game for the first time. We already know we can see the first gameplay images in The Callisto Protocol, the spiritual heir to Dead Space, the first level of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where we are entitled to new information about Gotham Knights, and that The Delicious Last Course, the long -awaited Cuphead DLC, will point the tip of its nose.
Naa pud mi the certainty of seeing Dwayne Johnson on stage, but it’s unclear if it has any connection to Fortnite. However, and yet the important teaser directed by Geoff Keighley and the official Summer Game Fest account, the organizer asked fans to curb their expectations and considered some rumors as completely insane :
It was an exciting weekend for me because I finally found the things we had been telling people for months. Apparently we’ve been announcing a lot of things since the last time I spoke to you in terms of the world premieres and announcements that are out there. What I’m going to say is that a lot of the games we’re going to show you will be announced already … (We’re going to) show you new content, like some I mentioned.
We have some new game announcements for this show and hopefully there will be some surprises if all goes well. But it’s definitely a show that mostly focuses on the things that are predicted. We have prepared great things for you, but lower your expectations with shocking announcements. This is not the Game Awards. We have a lot of nice stuff to show you, but watch out for some crazy rumors I’ve seen in terms of ads.
Communication strategy or real call for calm?
Did Geoff Keighley really try to lower our expectations, or is he trying to downplay the hype to be more surprising ? Although the presentation of many games has already been announced, it is a safe bet that the organizer there are some big announcements, to mark the occasion and be sure to install Summer Game Fest on par with the Game Awards. Moreover, and he shows it, some presentations have almost advertising value. He took as an example the Elden Ring, which has already been announced, but is showing up stunning new imageswith a lasting impact on the night of 2021. Suffice it to say that there is a lot to do, especially since Sony has already released its State of Play, Nintendo hasn’t announced a Direct, and Ubisoft has announced that it has skipped it.
It’s an announced game that just shows new footage and sometimes people take that as if it were the game’s announcement, but it was actually announced a few years ago.
That’s a big surprise, though consider the impact that the presentation of a new trailer for the sequel will have The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, whose release is set for spring 2023? It can’t be, but you get the idea behind the show’s producer’s statement. In any case, we are the only ones there can no longer wait for Thursday night from 8 pm.
