In practice – Your iPhone acts as a white noise generator to help you sleep better

Saba to sleep? It seems the opposite. However, some noise -like sounds can help you relax and, why not, put you into a peaceful sleep. These noises, called white, are signals composed of all audible frequencies, each frequency having the same intensity. As defined by Wikipedia, white noise (or white noise) “teaches, with no difficulty in mathematics, a sharp variety of breath”. You know, the famous noise we hear at the end of programs when a television shows “snow”.

By the analogy of white light corresponding to the corresponding superposition at different wavelengths visible to the eye, white noise is the result of the superposition of all audible frequencies emitted by an equivalent power. This set of sounds of the same intensity produces a uniform sound. This white noise, which ultimately seems unpleasant (it’s a noise to say the least… noise) can saturate your auditory receptor and thus reduce your perception of ambient noise. Less disturbed, can fall asleep more easily. We use the condition here, because when there are many scientific studies, it is difficult to find a consensus on the benefits of white noise in sleep and the quality of sleep. However, the Internet is filled with hours of videos of dishwashing, rain, wind or waves that are watched – and most of all, listened to – millions of times.

The iPhone, white noise generator

Since version 15, Apple’s iOS mobile operating system offers an option to stream white noise. To do this, you need to go to Settings> Accessibility> Audio/Visual> Background Sounds.

You come to the white noise settings screen. In the Sound section you can choose between different noises. From the balance of Noise to the Sea going through the River and Dark noise, you are free to choose the one that suits you.

If this technique works for you, and to save you a lot of manipulation of the background sound function, you can define the Accessibility Hotkey using this function. Once activated (Settings> Accessibility> Shortcut Accessibility), it is enough to press three times the button on the right side of the iPhone to start scattering the noise.
