Several Class Balance Changes Coming Next Week-World of Warcraft

Hunters, Mage, Monks, Priests …

As Kaivax stated in a post tonight, several balance changes will be launched in classes next week in Patch 9.2.5 of shadows. Find all the details below.

Classes

  • All classes now create an additional threat to the Tank Specialist.
  • Note to the developers: We’ve heard a lot of feedback about threats falling from the community (and our colleagues) since the start of this season. Our intent in the design was that the Tank actively directing its damage rotation on an enemy should be able to continue to threaten them, but simple area effect spellings (such as Consecration or Death and Decay) are not enough. We analyzed this situation and believe that a small tweak to the Tank threat modifiers should help maintain this balance over the rest of the set.

hunter

  • Cruel Beast
    • All skill and damage to the pet increased by 4%.
    • The Bestial Chain now causes your pet to hit other targets for 100% of its damage (90%).
  • Developers note: Beast Mastery does not receive as many AoE benefits for its set bonus as other specs and is downgraded as a result. We added damage to his pet and shifted damage to the Bestial Chain to help his overall performance.

shaman

  • The duration of the Gift of the Lich (Intermediate Necrolord) is reduced by 33% in PvP.
    • Developers note: Deathbringer is one of the most impactful cooldowns in the game, but with current Intermediate scaling, this one regularly lasts 50 seconds. We think we need to reduce this duration in PvP.
  • Arcana
    • Arcane Missile damage increased by 8%.
    • Arcane Blast damage increased by 10%.
    • Bright Ideas will never go away.
  • Developers note: We think an Arcane damage target would benefit from the increase, but also want to provide protection to one of their spin crit buffs with Clearcastings. This is a change we’ll be checking out more closely in Dragonflight, as we want magic buffs like this to disappear. In this case, we think that short-term specialization should be helped.

monk

  • Mistweaver
    • The cooldown of Zen Focus Tea (PvP Talent) is reduced to 30 seconds (45 seconds).
      • Note to developers: Mistweavers struggle to respond to the damage of explosions reliably, always having to open their main school in an effort to catch up. Giving them more access to disruptive protection is intended to make them more susceptible to explosions of damage.
  • windwalker
    • Rising Sun Kick damage increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Fists of Fury damage to the main target increased by 20% This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Blackout Strike damage increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Damage to Tiger Palm increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • White Tiger’s fist damage increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
  • Developers ’note: For the sake of balance, we’ve developed a more aggressive approach to repairing a target damage to Windwalker Monks so that their performance can better compete in attack situations where their unique abilities strength may be absent in the foreground.

priest

  • discipline
    • Torrent of Light (PvP Talent) increases Smite and Penance damage by 30% (down from 15%).
  • Discipline, Shadow
    • Power Word Absorption Rate: Shield increased by 10% in PvP.
    • Fixed a bug that reduced the critical hit amount in Power Word: Shield in PvP.
  • Developers note: We intended to give Disciple more offensive PvP options but also felt that Power Word: Shield fell behind in relative power compared to other kit items.

thief

  • Scavenger (Medium) fixes reduced by 50% in PvP.
  • Outlaw
    • Among the Eyes the damage increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Pistol Shot damage increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Sinister Strike damage increased by 20%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Blade Flurry damage increased to 60% of primary target damage (50%). This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Endurance Brawler (PvP Talent) stacks up to 15 times (down from 20).
  • Developers ’note: Our intent with these changes is to buff the Outlaw in both target and 5-6 target cleave situations where Blade Flurry should flash. The outlaw is not strong enough to stand these times and hopefully these changes will go in the right direction. However, in PvP, Endurance Brawler and Scavenger give Outlaw more survival than intended, and we decided to lower the most stacks accordingly.

One

  • Totem repair increased by 20% in PvP.
  • grade school
    • Raging Bumblebee Vortex (Kyrian Legendary Power) is damaged by 33% in PvP.
    • Earth Shock damage is no less than 10% in PvP.
  • growth
    • Chain Harvest (Venhyrs) damage and recovery are reduced by 15% in PvP.
  • RECONCILIATION
    • Earthen Wall Totem Absorption (Talent) is no longer reduced by 30% in PvP.
  • Developer Comments: For Shaman, we’d like to mention some of the key moments that Chiming Totem and Chain Harvest made but pay for it with more continuous healing, damage, and debuffs.

Warlock

  • WRECKAGE
    • The Ritual of Ruin (Bonus 2P) will now last 30 seconds (no limit).
    • Summon Blasphemy (4P Bonus) will no longer shock enemies in PvP.
  • Demonology
    • Felguard Legion Strike now reduces the effectiveness of fixing the target by 25% (10%) in PvP.
  • Developers ’note: With these changes, we want to address a combat exit strategy except for the rare times that the Warlock can make a big explosion through his bonus set. At the same time, we try to give the Warlock enough time to respond to the Ritual of Ruin proc with a 30 second duration. In addition, we increased the effect of Mortal Strike on the Demonology pet in PvP to help with their effective damage.

WARRIORS

  • Weapons
    • Mortal Strike damage increased by 10%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Overpower damage increased by 10%. This change does not apply to PvP.
    • Execute and Blame damage increased by 15%. This also applies to Protection Warriors. This change does not apply to PvP.
  • Note to the developers: These changes are intended to increase a target performance of Weapons by not affecting situations in which they are superior.
  • anger
    • Depths of Madness (Medium) effectiveness decreases by 50% in PvP.
    • Battle Trance (PvP Talent) now generates 3 Rage (5) every 3 seconds for 18 seconds after using Raging Blow twice in a row on a target.
  • Developers note: 9.2.5 has a fix where the Battle Trance PvP talent is not activated by the Raging Blow replacement spell, Crushing Blow, via the Reckless Spirit talent. The above changes are intended to address the buff that Fury receives through this interaction.

Things

  • Gladiator’s Distinction Stamina Bonus (PvP Set) increased to 500 (previously 350).
    • Developers’ note: In general, the damage exceeds the survivability of PvP, leading to a faster gameplay experience. We added Endurance to the PvP jewelry bonus set to reduce the effect of in-game damage.
  • Cosmic Gladiator’s Resounding Resolve no longer procs through or grants immunity to interfere with effects. The description will be updated in a future patch.
    • Developers ’note: Even though the description clearly mentions interruptions, we’ve heard feedback that this trinket removes counters that players value. We will address the description of the future patch.
