super mario odyssey
Mario is one of the most famous characters from Nintendo and more widely from the world of video games. Super Mario Odyssey is a platform game, released the same year on Switch and proved to be an exciting change for the adventures of the most famous plumber. As usual, Princess Peach is kidnapped by the famous Bowser … And Mario must embark on a long journey to save her beauty. But Mario’s partner, a living cap named Cappy, brings originality to the game. Our hero can throw it at his enemies to control or attack them and also serve as a temporary platform. Super Mario Odyssey is an exploratory adventure that offers a very different game.
Fear of Metroid
Released in 2021, Metroid Dread is the latest opus to license and probably one of the best. We see armor hero Samus Aran facing a new threat, for a game that seems to go back to the beginning of the saga. Samus travels to the planet ZDR to discover the strange transmissions there that suggest X-parasites, believed to have long been extinct, and find out what is going on in this hostile world. Amidst the action, exploration and penetration, the plot will captivate and make any license fan nostalgic. Fluid gameplay, balanced difficulty and a wide range of abilities ensure the success of Metroid Dread.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
The famous arena fighting game, released in 2018. From Mario to Bayonetta, via Pikachu or Link, Super Smash Bros Ultimate carries a total of 75 characters. If most of them have already appeared in previous games, there are a dozen new ones like Marie (Animal Crossing) or Daisy (Super Mario). The rules couldn’t be simpler: attack your opponents until you knock them off the field to be the last to stay there. Controlled game, extensive course and stuff, very good soundtrack. A great game to have fun, alone or with others, even if we immediately find ourselves completely in these fiery fights. Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a real Switch staple.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The ultimate racing game and a simple cult game! Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has topped the Nintendo charts since its release in 2017, with a current total of 43.35 million copies sold. Super Mario characters, along with leading representatives of other Nintendo licenses like Splatoon or Zelda, are meeting for epic and colorful races. Players can compete in a wide variety of races, mini -games, and 32 tracks on the base game only. Added to this number are 48 new DLC races that are gradually coming. With family, friends, or even alone, the Mario Kart formula has always convinced many of its listeners, and this latest opus only proves this rule once again.
Luigi’s Mansion 3
If Mario is Nintendo’s most famous character, his brother Luigi is also entitled to his own adventures. In Luigi’s Mansion 3, released in 2018, our hero must also face his fears and go on a ghost hunt in a haunted mansion. Armed with his ghost vacuum cleaner, Luigi must inspect the horrible house and rescue his friends, who have fallen into an ambush set by Amber Brusquade and King Boo. This third opus at Luigi’s Mansion marks the return of Gooigi, a slimy green version of our plumber, who has special and very useful abilities for this adventure of ghosts. The game remains a good Nintendo classic with lots of gameplay and a memorable atmosphere.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Released in 2019, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the thirteenth game in the tactical RPG saga and the first to be released on the Nintendo Switch. Players take on the role of Byleth, a mercenary who has no memory of his past and finds himself in the midst of a political conflict. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a success. The organization of the squad battles was a nice revival for the saga, we also appreciated the wide possibility of specializing in units, and capturing the scenario with the choices was important. Despite being a relatively static game, the game is still a good opus!
Triangle Strategy is a tactical RPG in the same vein as Fire Emblem, released on March 4, 2022. Three countries are competing for control of salt and iron mining. In addition to battles where strategy is required, players have to make choices that directly affect the story, especially during political votes where other characters have to be convinced. This is a particularly original point for this game whose ending changes according to different options. A beautiful visual and a quality soundtrack completes this captivating scenario. Triangle Strategy was a nice surprise.
Kirby and the Forgotten World
Recently released (March 25, 2022), Kirby and the Forgotten World is Nintendo’s latest hit. The game is the youngest of the little pink ball license, born in 1992. After being sucked into a black hole, Kirby finds himself in the Forgotten World and must save him from an evil creature. This time, we changed the formula: it’s still a platform game, but in 3D and in the open world. And it was a success for our cute partner! Even if the game is simple overall, it looks very nice as well as the game itself, and brings a good revival for the license.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
It’s time to slowly end this choice. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is rather a historic game because it is a restraint game, which comes at the right time to allow players to escape while staying at home. The new opus once again brings players into this beautiful world inhabited by animals and good vibes. Cultivate your vegetable garden, fish, make things, cook, decorate your island and your house … No pressure at Animal Crossing, just relax and escape. On the other hand, the game is less rich than its predecessors, even after two years of release and with its Happy Homes Paradise DLC. But we forgive him and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is nonetheless fun to play and an important title for the Nintendo Switch.
