Here is finally the list of Android and iOS devices that no longer have WhatsApp from May 31, 2022

This decision affected many users. In fact, the latter will no longer be able to take advantage of the popular multi-platform mobile application that provides an end-to-end encrypted instant messaging system through both mobile telephone networks and the Internet.

A serious measure

The green-logoed messaging app owned by Meta Group (Facebook) is now used by more than two billion people every day. It has made it one of the most popular instant messaging apps in the world. The company also continues to expand its service by adding new features to its application. It also makes it more playful in conversations.

The next update brought by the California company, however, could cause a stir. In fact, from May 31, 2022, many mobile devices will no longer be compatible with WhatsApp services. This blacklist applies to both devices running Android or iOS (iPhone).

How do you know if your phone is affected by this incompatibility?

If your value runs the Alphabet (Google) operating system, go to the settings on your smartphone. Check the system information, enter the update and system menu. If your device’s Android version is 4.1 or lower, it’s time to buy a new phone to continue enjoying WhatsApp.

If you have an iPhone, check your operating system version. If you are still in the tenth installment of iOS (iOS10) or lower. Your value is no longer compatible with the messaging app.

Updating the system can be the solution

If it is known that your phone has an incompatible version of the application, you will receive a notification when it is opened.

“WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after October 24, 2022,” reads iOS devices that are no longer compatible.

So, if your device is running versions later than Android 4.1 or iOS 11, see if you can update your phone or tablet so that it can run a newer version. If your device runs iOS 12 or Android 5.0 or higher, upgrade it to enjoy your WhatsApp app. Note that the messaging service is available in the browser if you cannot update your device.

The reasons for this change

WhatsApp did not provide an explanation for this decision. Support for these older versions of iOS and Android can be explained by clear compatibility and security factors. These older platforms are definitely not powerful enough and not very safe for application.

In fact, when it comes to where, it turns out that the platform has just mixed in new or less interesting features. This has to do with multi-device mode, its story system or even an option that allows you to keep a conversation private.

In terms of security, this change is even more surprising, when we know that Telegram, a similar platform and competitor to Meta, still works on iOS 9.
