News event Summer Game Fest, Netflix, Xbox Showcase: Calendar of summer E3-style video game conferences
Yes, there is no E3 this year but JV players are always taking advantage of the May-June period to announce their new products! Many publishers and industry entities are announcing their talks during this time. To help you see more clearly, here is the complete calendar.
For the month of June
Netflix Geeked Week (June 6 – 10)
As usual, Netflix took advantage of the month of June to make it happen “Geek Week”, a week dedicated to its original products and its video game adaptations. Each day has a theme: Monday dedicated to the series, Tuesday to the movies, Wednesday to the animation, Thursday through season 4 of Stranger Things and Friday to the games. So we can expect news from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunner series or more quotes from the Resident Evil series, which recently released its first trailer. On the JV side, the streaming monster has launched its service in this area and can therefore provide news to the Night School Studio (Oxenfree, Afterparty) it purchased recently.
Tribeca Festival (June 8 – 19)
Even if the American festival Tribeca traditionally talks about cinema, the film is slowly falling in love with video games, which have rewarded the best titles released of the year, but still offers announcements of anticipation. novelties. During the June 8 to 9, so we can have a chance to hear about A Plague Tale Requiem, Cuphead The Delicious Last Course or even Oxenfree II Lost Signals. Casual instead is expected to be games in their respective genres. As you can understand, this is a moment not to be missed! See you in early June.
Summer Game Fest (June 9/8 pm)
As the health crisis brings about changes around the world, the video game industry also needs to adapt. For the occasion, new JV-dedicated events have emerged, including the Summer Game Fest, organized by Geoff Keighley (who is already in charge of the Game Awards). And with both editions crowned with success on the legs, as many say the show doesn’t stop in such a good way! So let’s meet June 9 at 8 p.m. to find out “announcements of new games, special guests from the video game industry and more”. If we knew we were entitled to the first trailer for Elden Ring last year, we could just be very enthusiastic.
Guerrilla Collective + Wholesome Direct (June 11/5 pm)
As usual for two years, the Guerilla Collective event likes to unveil several independent video games. This year’s edition is no exception to the rule, with a performance to be held June 11 from 5 p.m. French period. Last year, we had the opportunity to discover titles like Vertigo, The Lightbringer along with 80 other apps. This season should be as generous. Note that Guerrilla Collective will be followed by “Wholesome Direct”, a presentation dedicated to colorful and friendly independent games. There are so many people!
Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase (June 12/7 pm)
Of course, what would it be like at E3 without big players like the Xbox! So the Microsoft brand gave us an appointment to June 12 at 7 p.m. for “more information about future games in the Xbox ecosystem”. Inevitably, the blood of the players has only one turn to hope for for titles like Starfield, the reboot of Fable or even the concrete news from Hellbalde II. The American company is also coming up with an impressive range of studios, having recently acquired Bethesda and Activision Blizzard. Note that there is no risk of hearing about this last publisher, who will have to fulfill the contracts of other players before joining Xbox.
