When she turned her eyes to Vincent Gagnon, Karla Romero was attracted – and it was the same. However, to be a couple, they must end their individual love and learn to forgive each other for their mistakes.
Karla Romero lived in Belleville throughout her childhood. When he had the chance, he left the small town, which was too quiet for his taste, to settle in Montreal. There he was attacked while working in a bar. Karla, who has returned to live with her mother, Anemone, is hard to beat. At the same time, the family went through many hardships, including the death of Claudio and the notification of Anemone’s illness. For everyone, it was a huge surprise!
However, Anemone doesn’t want her life to revolve around her Alzheimer’s. She wants to continue living as before and work at the funeral home, which was recently sold to Maryse Vézina, from Groupe Amora. Maryse was in charge of the organization, but she relied on Vincent Gagnon, her lover, to manage the Belleville branch.
First meetings
Vincent had just moved to Belleville when he met Karla. The young woman worked as a waitress at Ghislain’s restaurant and she met Vincent there many times. She finds him very attractive, but Anemone doesn’t want her daughter to be with her boss, who also has a relationship with Maryse.
If this isn’t really a problem for Karla, the fact that Vincent has a terrifying interest in his mother and that he believes he was responsible for the murder of his brother, Lyndsay, has cooled his enthusiasm. For Karla, it’s no question to be with a guy who thinks his mother is a criminal! Vincent’s stubbornness in wanting to prove that Anemone had committed a crime convinced Karla that this man wasn’t for him and he was really interested in getting away from it.
The loud knocks
Karla also has many things to manage in her personal life. In particular, she knew she was pregnant and that her mother had passed on the gene for Alzheimer’s disease to her, which was hard to accept. Fortunately, her family members were there for her during these hardships, as was Ghyslain, who was always there when she needed a sympathetic ear or a shoulder to lean on. Ghyslain has a relationship with Amélie, but he can’t deny his feelings for Karla. He even agrees to pretend to be the father of Lan, Karla’s son, without daring to say that the real father is Emilien, a family friend.
At first Amélie was upset to learn that Ghyslain was a father, but in the end she was happy. To fulfill her wish to have a child, she really tricked into expelling Karla and taking care of the child alone with Ghyslain. The latter realizes this, though, and this is the end of their relationship. She immediately finds herself free to love whoever she wants, and as much as Karla wants to continue to trust her, they settle down and offer a family to little Lan. Karla tries to convince herself that Ghyslain is the man of her life, knowing that Vincent is what she always thinks of.
Happy together
Karla hopes to escape trouble by following Ghyslain to New Brunswick. When he returned to Belleville, a few months later, the situation had changed dramatically: he knew Vincent had told the truth about his mother, which well he didn’t mean to hurt. So Karla agreed to explain herself to him, and her efforts to get closer to him convinced her to give him a chance. Even if Vincent isn’t perfect, they become lovers spending beautiful times together.
Although their relationship has experienced some turmoil, Karla understands that Vincent truly loves her and that she is willing to do anything to make things work out between them. She treated Lan like her child and supported Karla in every choice of it. So the future seems promising and filled with love for this couple, who have become stronger after each new adversity.
