Soon You’ll Feel Metaverse – Including Virtual PETS

THE odorless METAVERSE is like living in black and white – and even bad things like body odor and skin have a place.

That’s according to a sensory scientist pushing the boundaries of virtual reality to a whole new level.

Virtual reality and the metaverse focus on sight, hearing, and touch, but taste and smell are often overlooked, often because they are too complicated to achieve.

But a company called OVR Technology has found a way to bring a scent into the virtual world that could eventually also pave the way for the Metaverse.

And for a truly multi-sensory experience, we need not only all the weird smells like roses or food, but also those we always avoid in the real world.

“For me, living in the world of fragrance, all smells are interesting, even the bad smells and they have their function,” OVR Technology boss Aaron Wisniewski told The Sun.

“They all have a role – human smells.

“Sure, the smell of hair, you can prank someone.

“But there are also some interesting better side effects that have bad odors.”

For example, his team worked with a researcher on a program called Brave Mind that uses scent to help veterans with PTSD.

Along with virtual reality, they use horrible smells like blood, poo, urine, burning hair, and smoke to help them recover.

“All those horrible smells are memory factors, you can use them in a treatment setting,” he said.

“We’re just looking at what this technology can do.”

But he doesn’t believe that the metaverse is just to recreate existing smells, it can also invent new smells.

“We can change what it smells like, what it smells like in space and lasers and monsters and all that cool stuff,” he continued.

“That’s why we’re not afraid of bad smells, but what we do is figure out what smells we can make and who we can work with to make a measurable positive impact. “

Among the more beautiful scents developed by the four -year company are mindfulness experiences, which allow users to choose from natural environments such as a waterfall or a beach where they can reach the scents. of orbs.

The intelligent technology operates on a cartridge plugged into the front of the VR headset and emits small odor particles as you approach the relevant virtual object using invisible geometry.

So when you approach a rose, you start to smell it – and the closer you bring it to you, the stronger the smell.

Wisniewski – a pronounced “crazy scientist” who has long worked on all things smell – said that smell is the key to the metaverse because it has a huge subconscious influence on memory, emotions and motivations.

“I think a lot of people who lost their scent during Covid can attest,‘ oh wow, that’s important, ’” he said.

“And many people who have lost their sense of smell describe it as isolated from reality, like black and white or behind a sheet of glass.

“I don’t want the metaverse to be like this sentimental, collective digital anosmia.”
