AED: Everyone strikes on March 22!

Staff essential to the proper functioning of establishments, educational assistants (AED, AP and APS) must deal with unacceptable employment and wage conditions: One year revised fixed -term contract awaiting the now possible CDIsation at the end of 6 years, incomplete working hours, wages below the poverty line.

Since the onset of the health crisis, their working conditions have deteriorated further, especially with the proliferation of tasks assigned to them. The missions defined in the regulatory texts are vague enough for them to be entrusted with all the tasks, some of which are clearly not their responsibility.

If this is the case, the standoff in the hierarchy is always difficult, leaders will not hesitate to play on threats of non-change and disciplinary penalties.

Contempt for education assistants will be heard even on the parliamentary hemicycle if changes proposing to give priority education bonus to AEDs working there are abolished. Forgotten by many in Grenelle de l’éducation, Blanquer’s only response was to publish an order in December 2021 opening up the possibility of AEDs working overtime, a blank check issued by the establishment’s leaders. they are allowed to put pressure on the AEDs so that they and they increase their working hours according to the needs of the service.

Facing authoritarianism: the collective and unity!

Several local collectives of education assistants have emerged with the winter 2021 mobilizations, grouped within a national coordination.

These collectives make it possible to break the isolation where AEDs find themselves, to create unity the size of a town or a department, to stimulate local mobilization, to establish strike funds.

This dynamic of SUD Education self-organization fully supports this and calls for the strengthening of AED collectives.

The National Coordination of Collectives of Educational Assistants has called for a new national strike day for AEDs on March 22, 2022. SUD Education has called on education assistants to accept this call and file a notice. on strike for that day.

CDIsation is not enough to escape danger: we will win our duty!

On February 24, 2022, the National Assembly definitively voted on the law on school harassment, one of the provisions providing for the CDIsation of AEDs after a 6 -year contract.

CDIsation, how does it change?

All staff working under a Public Service contract are automatically offered a permanent contract after a 6-year fixed-term contract with less than 4 months interval between each contract. To date, DEAs have been unfairly excluded from this provision.

✅ Permanent staff usually work full-time if possible.

✅ CDI is not renewed every year: the head of the establishment can no longer threaten you not to renew your contract at the end of the year you are in CDI!

❌ The CDI AED used in “missions”, the administration is always wrong to think that the AED is not a job! AEDs perform missions that are essential to public service education and should be recognized by creating a truly fair and secure environment!

❌ CDIsation does not mean a salary increase, the salary has to be reviewed every 3 years but there is no salary progression grid for AED at present. This measure of CDIsation is largely insufficient: with CDIs at the minimum wage, the government keeps AEDs in poverty. The CDI AED will work for a salary of 1269 euros net for a full-time 41 hours per week: it’s an advantage!

❌ CDI’s AED does not hold Public Service: he does not have access to the same rights as civil servants, so SUD Education claims the tenure of all AED staff wanted!

For educational assistants, SUD Education claims:

  • the unconditional employment of all staff who wish by creating a school teacher status
  • wage increases with a national salary increase grid based on seniority;
  • reduced working hours;
  • obtaining a REP/REP+ bonus for all staff working in priority education;
  • the elimination of the overnight package at boarding schools;
  • the creation of a replacement brigade of departments so as not to overload AEDs at the post of the establishment with the replacement of left comrades;
  • the widespread recruitment of AED staff and the termination of the recruitment of heads of establishments: for academic recruitment;
  • access to training and increase credit time for training.
