The secret to a long and beautiful relationship is many for the couple who met in their twenties, but did not fall in love until the dawn of their fifties.

“In a long relationship, you go through all sorts of hardships, pitfalls, joys and you have to want your marriage to continue and succeed,” explains Louise Turcot. Here’s the secret, I think: if we really want to, let’s get along, listen to each other, talk, respect each other and leave. »

“Leave, yes! added Gilles, who describes himself as a “bucké” who has known how to “debucker” himself over the years. “Loyalty is also required. Then, you have to choose your fights. »

Both see it as an advantage and a gift to get along with each other at work. Together, they can overcome stress at first and enjoy being involved in their profession. They also have similar careers full of film, TV, theater and teaching projects that allow them to understand and support each other.

“It’s hard to have a successful marriage without respect for the work of others and empathy for the person you live with”, continues one who has only one piece of advice to give to young couples who want to follow their example. “Kill your cell phones! »

Every day, Gilles loves her lover through her humor and her lightness while Louise, the family woman who cooks like a chef, is “simply adorable” in her lover’s eyes.

The story of a thunder

Louise Turcot and Gilles Renaud have the same year of birth (they are both 77 years old) and a crazy love for theater. They first met when he was studying at the National School and he was at the Conservatory. Years later, between 1989 and 1991, they were called to play a couple of television series. The Great Swirl. However, when they reached the age of 49 they fell in love.

“We perform in the theater with the play together Ivanov by Anton Chekhov of Duceppe and that’s where it happened, Gilles Renaud recalls. It was a real thunder! »

“On the night of the premiere, we gave each other small gifts,” he continued with glowing eyes. We got the same book: The old sorrow by Jacques Poulin. It was a strange coincidence that we saw a sign. »

While the two were in romantic relationships and had three children each, this love at first sight came with its share of difficult periods of living for members of both families.

“It’s hard to admit to yourself that this is something important that happened to us,” Louise continued softly. But I really feel like this is the man in my life that I know. I feel like it’s something important and I can’t forget it in my life, I need to have the courage to do it. »

Together for 28 years and married for 26 beautiful years, they have no regrets that they have had the courage to believe in their love.
