Baccalaureate 2022: changes in tests that take into account health status

Numerous exchanges have taken place, since Jan. 13, with selected high school students by the National Council for High School Life, representative staff organizations and federations of parents of students.

The current situation has consequences, not only on the organization of examinations, but also and above all on the conditions of preparation of candidates. In fact, due to multiple and consecutive absences due to illness, students find themselves in different situations in terms of preparation. Continuing the tests unchanged in March could lead to violations of equality between candidates depending on territories or personal circumstances.

Under these conditions, in order to preserve fair treatment between candidates and allow everyone to prepare for these tests calmly, the Minister decided on the following steps:

Arrangements for special tests

Written specialization tests for the general and technological baccalaureate, to be held on March 14, 15 and 16, have been postponed to May 11, 12 and 13. The so-called “experimental capacity assessment” tests will take place in the following days.

The program of events is the same as scheduled for the month of March. So candidates no longer have many themes to revise, but only more time to work on the initial program.

Instead of marks obtained by candidates on written specialization tests, the averages obtained by candidates in these courses in the three quarters of the first class and the first two quarters of the last class.

In addition, in order to offer the best conditions for the preparation of candidates, several changes have been made:

  • All topics are set so that everyone, according to their specialty, has a choice of questions or exercises;
  • Two days before the examinations are allotted, in the establishments, in the revisions of the examinations, the students at the terminal have their specialty courses;
  • Language level certificate -specific tests have been canceled, on an unusual basis, for this year.

These arrangements will allow students to continue their preparation for specialty tests such as the philosophy test and the Grand Oral, without compromising their chances of success.

Adjust about the professional way

Due to the state of health and its consequences of organizing workplace training periods (PFMP), its minimum duration has been reduced to 7 to 8 weeks compared to the usual durations so that the minimum thresholds for basic certifications are:

  • For the professional baccalaureate prepared in 3 years, 10 weeks (instead of 18 to 22 weeks depending on the specialty)
  • For vocational baccalaureate prepared for 2 years, 8 weeks (instead of 18 to 22 weeks depending on specialty)
  • For CAP, be prepared in 2 or 3 years = 5 weeks (instead of 12 to 14 weeks depending on the specialty).

This step will also allow candidates to spend more time preparing for the exams, staying in the same format and the same program.

Arrangements for physical education and sports

Checks during training, usually three in number, can be shortened to two if the health status consequences of the availability of facilities or the preparation of students are reasonable.

Arrangements for advance oral French 1st general and technological testing

To consider the effects on students ’school health status, the number of texts to be presented orally was reduced to 16 on the overall track and to 9 on the technological track. Specific timetables for individual candidates ’examinations, set at the academic level, will be adjusted to take into account this situation.
